So I have been trying to use meGUI, and i love it.. but no matter what I do, and i have tried everything i have been suggested and more, but audio gets out of sync with meGUI.

I was wondering if there was something else... doesnt have to be as complex or robust as meGUI, that would convert a DVD I have to an Xvid or Divx.

there has to be something there just for this, where it doesnt only server the video, but also serves the audio frame by frame, making sure they match up just like the .Vob s do? Instead of demuxing, serving video then muxing back? I dont care about speed at this point, i have spent almost a week on trying to make sound sync... so if this thing takes a day and it works i dont care.

If you're looking for something simple that'll make stuff that will reliably play in DivX devices (e.g. PlayStation 3, certified DVD players or TV with USB), you can use DivX Converter for free - it's part of the DivX 7 download from DivX.com. Currently, the trial part of DivX Converter only pertains to creating H.264/MKV files, but you can continue to make .divx files for free.

If you want something that gives you more settings and control, I'll agree that StaxRip has a nice interface.

I have been using the Celtic Druid build of Fairuse Wizard - which is straightforward and seems to do a good job. Does Staxrip offer any advantages over this?

I have had excellent results wth Handbrake(xvid supported older build),and AutoMen. Staxrip proved so so for me! I once used AutoMKV and had loads of problems with encodes eg undersized/oversized files, video audio sych etc. However some swear by it and have had no major problems. The options in AutoMKv are not for the faint hearted and there is a good support sheet out there to read here:

    http://www.64k.it/andres/data/a/Auto..._Tutorial.html

I occasionally had synch problems with the excellent AutoGK-and now use it only fleetingly for resizing full frame to 16.9 or removing grain from video due to super VDubmod plugins, because it is not in development anymore and it does not support a lot of newer formats. I just use AutoMen and get super in synch encodings. Download link below.

Try AutoMen, but decrypt your dvd using said driver: Fox tool. Fairuse Wizard does not decrypt a dvd like all the encoding tools mentioned here due to legal issues, so bear that in mind! Only DVDx does it(also No1 DVD Ripper) with special options, but you have to buy that to get advantage. Freeware version does not have this feature and is restricted. Older full option builds may still be available, but probably won't support Vista or Win 7.

As a regretful customer who bought the above download, I sure hope you can produce a more reliable Converter version in the future ... and that my money will not then have been wasted entirely.
