    Hello from Australia.

I am trying to record from an LG VCR player onto my PC using video capture. The capture software is working to a point in that the LG symbol is showing in the capture window but when I play the video nothing happens.
I hope I have explained this well enough.
    Appreciate any help.

Not enough info. What is your capture hardware and how are you connected? Have you checked the capture
software to see what source it is trying to capture (tuner, RF, composite, S-Video, etc)??

    Sorry...
I am using AVS capture and the source it is capturing is Pinnacle AV/DV2 using S video.
Do you need any other info?

Since you are getting the LG logo in your capture window, the VCR is sending something that the capture card can detect. Make sure that you set the VCR to use s-video for its video out; it is not always automatic (but then again, maybe you already did this). Good Luck!

Try capture from a stable source such as a cable box or a DVD player playing a self burned (not copy protected) DVD.

That will separate source issues from computer driver issues. Try using Pinnacle Studio with that box if AVS doesn't work.

Tried a burnt DVD and worked fine. I am using Pinnacle Studio Plus now to see if that works but no joy!!

I managed to solve the problem. There was a Euro AVI port at the back of the VCR which I connected a cable to and changed the setting to composite...and it WORKED. Thanks anyway for the help.

That explains why there was no VHS picture from the S-Video port. I have a Samsung combo that does that too.

Used the composite output, as you've had to.
