    1. Capture from another MiniDV camcorder.

    2. Capture analog S-Video output using a capture card.

    1. If I capture S-Video output or through RCA, will the quality be same as DV capture? What will be the difference in quality between DV, S-Video and RCA capture?

    2. My Laptop have usb port. If I use S-Video to USB converter what will be the quality? Is there any other device available for capturing in my Laptop, because I do not want to buy a new PC for adding capture card.

A DV stream transfer over IEEE-1394 is a first generation to the file on disk (bit identical).

S-Video is a D/A analog conversion that needs to be redigitized during an analog transfer. The quality will be less.

Composite Y+C is a step down from Y/C S-Video because the chroma C is mixed with luminance Y and then must be separated before being redigitized.

For S-Video or composite, an analog to USB capture device can be used. These ususlly hardware encode to MPeg2 which is lower quality than DV. Quality usually varies by price.

Your best bet is to transfer your DV tape to disk on other equipment.

If, I use another camera for capturing through Firewire interface, the my laptop doesnot have any Firewire port. In this case, if I use one USB-Firewire adapter, then what will be the quality? Does this difference in quality make any significant sense? because finaly I will make High Quality DVD.

Following link provide one USB - Firewire Adapter :

    Is this a good device?

If you capture from another computer over IEEE-1394 the quality will be an exact 720x576i copy from the tape to a hard disk file.

The "USB-Firewire adapter" has proven to not work. Best you can expect is 352x288 over USB (quarter resolution webcam format).

Your other option is analog capture.
