Could anyone help me with unlocking the region code protection in my Samsung BD-P1580 Blu-ray player

We probably really need to make a sticky specific to unlocking BluRay players.

Sony and Samsung players of all types are among the most difficult in the world to unlock. Note that a very few (less than 5 I think) major manufacturer BluRay players sold outside of North America can be unlocked for DVD play only. The codes do not in any way unlock BluRay region protection. The only BluRay players in the world that can be unlocked for DVD and BluRay play are the Oppo (it requires you the purchaser to change the firmware yourself after purchase to unlock it) and Momitsu (also sold under a different name in the UK - the sellers have changed the hardware after the manufacturer shipped the player to support region free playback).

The BluRay licensing agreement explicitly forbids manufacturers from making BluRay players that can be made region free for DVD and/or BluRay playback. The fact that less than a handful exist is almost miraculous given how companies like Sony and Samsung really cannot do enough to please their Hollywood masters. The odds of you ever finding an unlock code for this player are quite low. Good luck.
