    Hi all

This is my first post here - hope someone can help me out.

I have always used DVD Decrypter and Goldwave when trying to rip the audio from a DVD and it's always worked fine. I have AC3 Filter downloaded and follow the steps in the tutorial link http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/136/59/.

However, it's been a while since I last used these programs. I've got a new DVD that I want to rip the audio from but although DVD Decrypter works fine, I am having problems opening the resulting AC3 file using Goldwave. Everytime I try and open it, Goldwave crashes - the #Processing Audio Decompression box appears as it used to , but it's blank, and looks different to how it is displayed in the guide on DVD Guide listed above.

I am at a loss to explain this as I've always used Goldwave with no previous problems.

One thing which might be different is that I recently had to upgrade Quicktime and now the AC3 file appears with a Quicktime icon in its folder - I am wondering if when I have upgraded this, Quicktime has associated itself with this AC3 file type and tat's why it's not working properly...? I have uploaded a word doc of what I mean by this.

I'm not sure I've explained this well enough, but hopefully someone can help!

    Thanks in advance

    Andrew

Try reinstall ac3 filter and it might take over as default ac3 decoder(or I think you can adjust it in start menu->ac3 filter also).

    Goldwave won't open 5/1 AC3.
Downconvert in Besweet or VirtualDub to 2/0

Goldwave opens 5.1 ac3 for me without any complaints. Its the quicktime codecs thats taken over the ac3 settings and crashing goldwave, uninstall it and install quicktime alternative if you need the quicktime codecs.
