First, let me say I'm new to the editing and what not.

Problem- I purchased CS4 awhile back and I'm trying to edit a video. I have a compressed Fraps video file im working with. I import the video just fine. It shows the 1st frame of the video on the screen. When I click play the video just sits there. It will jag here and there, but the video file will finish and still be stuck around that first video frame. The audio portion of the video plays just fine.

I compressed the video using virtualdub xvid codec. The video file is 1360x716. Other videos will play in Premiere pro.. just seems to be happening with these compressed files. Ive tried compressing other videos and pulling them up in premiere pro with the same results. Did I do something wrong? Has anyone else run into this problem?

editors like pp prefer uncompressed sources. if you can't import the fraps original directly try converting to something like huffyuv or lagarith lossless avi.

So I started playing with the raw file itself and using media encoder for the compressing. When the video plays in premiere its kinda laggy. The file plays smooth in windows media. I've tried exporting all different kinds of ways and i cant seem to find a good quality export
