I've been trying to find a converter to go from mkv to mp4 so I can play some anime on my ps3. I've tried using GoM (which has no online support what-so-ever) and I've just finished trying GOtSent. The issue I'm having is rather specific to the subs being encoded, certain lines are being left out of the finished product. I checked the mp4 pre and post transfer to the ps4 and the issue was there when I used my VLC player and my GoMplayer and it was there in the file transfered to the ps3 (so it seems the issue doesn't have anything to do with the transfer to my ps3).

The part that I find odd is that the same lines were missing after encoding with both GOtSent and the GoM encoder (I encoded the same file using both programs and noticed the same subs were being left out with both encoders). I also checked and there were no issues with the subs on the mkv file pre-encode when I played it with my VLC player and my GoM player.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Try mkv2vob!

Or if you really want mp4 try handbrake.

  3. Best solution is a program called: MultiAVCHD
    https://www.videohelp.com/tools/multiAVCHD

Converts MKV to AVCHD with high quality (lossless) video with ass/ssa subtitles without embedding into video.
    Recommended configurations:

    http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t198/fbegum/MultiAVCHDsettings02.jpg
    http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t198/fbegum/MultiAVCHDsettings03.jpg
Once new settings are saved and next time it will be a 1 click transcoding.
After transcoding, place AVCHD folder into your USB pen drive at the root (D:\AVCHD) and plug in ps3 to watch in video section named 'AVCHD'.

If you prefer embbeded subtitles then I'd suggest MeGui Encoder converter (2-pass encoding with avisynth for quality as ment to be seen with karaoke/normal subtitles positioning) else Mkv2vob for ease of use.
