Videos converted skip and are cut off

Hi there:
I recently just loaded Pro (3.0.0131) and am converting files for the first time.
I have files that were created on a DVD by a Camcorder and are in .VOB format.

Previewing the files works fine except there is no sound.

However, when converting, some of the files get 'stuck' and then the program jumps to the next Title skipping all the rest chapters in the Title. When replaying the clips, almost all of them skip a piece in the middle or are cut off at the end.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I will need to look into this with the source files, to get to the bottom of it. If i give you my ftp site details, are you able to upload the files?

I'm not sure I can - when I try to copy the files off the DVD to the hard drive, it does about half and then says "Data Error: Cyclic Redundancy Check". Perhaps FTP'ing will not give the same problem. I'm not sure. Thoughts ?

Mmm. Well is suspect this may be the problem.... Is the disc overly scratched?

Not at all- these are Maxell DVD minidisks (1.4 GB) and they have been in a protective cover for a long time and look like brand new. I did a scan using CDCheck-3 and it confirmed the error. Very strange because it plays back just fine, just doesn't seem to want to be copied.

Well i think the program is experiencing the same issue as you do when you are copying to your hard drive. I.e there is either a media issue, a drive issue or some copy protection (despite the fact that these are home made). Can you try AnyDVD to see if it helps to allow you to copy the DVD?
