Looks promising. And if it's based on VLC it should also support most source formats.

I hope it will keep its window maximized when I press the "Stop" button or when I tell it
    to close the video file.

Can't wait to test this. When you look at the filters/effects VLC alone offers and look at the screenshot - multitrack - shouldn't be to hard to see it's going to be a decent NLE. Seeing as it's multitrack i hope there's options for copying audio/sub streams to MKV.

    Cheers

only gotcha is that they are dropping mac support. *all* their mac programmers have left the dev team.

From the demo, it looks like it converts source format to project format on import. Premiere didn't do it this way because of import conversion delays. Premiere workflow assumed you would only use a small amount of the import bin on the timeline so it allowed native source format preview in the left preview window, then rendered (transcoded) the clips dragged to the timeline to project format. Timeline render was required before the timeline could be previewed realtime in the right project window. When the source format is the same as the project format (e.g. uncompressed or DV), then both behave the same. Timeline preview is instant.

It will be interesting to see how fast the VLC NLE is at converting formats.

Ok nle stands for non linear editing right? Or is it something else?

So now will this let you drop in a avchd disc you already authored and reedit like you do with dvds?

I hope you can set the font size in the interface, so I can actually read what the controls says.

They're not dropping Mac support, as far as I've seen from looking through the VLC forums - it's just on hold or slowed, while they're trying to get new people to work on the Mac side of VLC and the related projects.
