    Hi,

I have a dvi to hdmi cable with analog audio going from my pc to my tv. I have a samsung 52" series 5 530. The only 3.5 mm audio in, is grouped with a vga input. With the cable I have my video coming thru but no audio when I have the 3.5 mm audio jack plugged into the 3.5 mm input. Any ides on how to get sound with the setup that I have?

On my TV one of the HDMI inputs is paired to a set of RCA audio inputs, I have to use a 3.5mm stereo -> 2 x RCA cable to get any audio from the PC.

    Maybe your's has something similar?

Depends on the TV. Some seem to not accept a separate audio input, especially when you are using a HDMI input. You would have to check the TVs manual. I use a separate surround sound amp, so I don't use the TV sound at all. One option is to use PC speakers placed by your TV and use the audio out from the audio card on the PC. If you are viewing movies with 5.1 audio, the separate surround amp is really the better way to go, if you do want to enjoy surround sound.

Check your menus to see if you can pair the VGA block audio to an HDMI input. If not, get a mini-plug to RCA stereo cable.

You might have to use VGA or get a videocard with HDMI.
Redwudz idea about PC speakers is a good one, you can get a 2.1ch system for around $30. A SPDIF coax cable will also work if you have a AVR.

I noticed I do have hdmi out on my mobo. My mobo is an ASUSTeK Computer INC. M3A78-EM. I'm thinking if I'm going hdmi to hdmi, I should have sound as well, correct? I tried this and I get no sound from the tv. I also tried my dvi to hdmi with analog audio and it's not detected even when pairing it up to the corresponding rca audio input.

Maybe sound. Probably not. If you need to loop sound cables to the video card then probably. If video is on the mother board, consult the motherboard documentation.
