Trying to capture video from VHS

So I'm trying to convert my home videos (7) of them to digital form. I borrwed my friends DVD/VCR recorder combo, and I was able to put all 7 tapes onto one dvd, I was able to extra only 4 of those videos off the dvd, dvd decrypter and any other extracting software said read errors.


I tried putting one video tape on one dvd each, and it still was corrupt.

So I went and bought this analog to usb converter, and was able to get one tape onto my computer, but when I try with my 5th birthday video tape, it says it's copyrighted...

it's a home video tape... how do I get around this without buying more hardware?

Go back to the DVD recorder but use better discs. Try Verbatim.

To get around the false macrovision detection with your USB capture device you'll need to buy a "clarifier" or time base corrector. Or you might be able to find hacked drivers that bypass the protection.
