    Is it possible to append a .srt in a .sub and use existing settings (font, colours etc) for the new subtitle?

    Nope, you have to convert the image sub/idx to srt(subrip), append the text(subtitle workshop) and last convert back to sub/idx(Txt2VobSub). And you have to configure the fonts,colors manually.
