  1. Hi,

I will be receiving a Panasonic AG-1980P deck soon and had a couple of questions. I also have a AVT-8710 TBC coming. Understanding that the AG-1980P comes with frame TBC, is the AVT-8710 even necessary. To use the AVT-8710, does the built in TBC on the AG-1980P need to be turned off? Does the TBC on the VCR or the standalone unit eleminate macrovision? TIA,

    Wait stop!

Has any consumer SVHS recorder ever had a frame based TBC? I only know of integral line TBC/DNR dating back to the early 90's latest. Educate me.

From the sticky in this forum...

"Panasonic's S-VHS professional editing decks, with full frame TBC (instead of line TBC). The Panasonic Picture Control slider on the 1970/1980 is a variable version of the JVC Picture Control selections (by default, it tends to already sharpen a little at the "normal" notch setting)

    Panasonic AG-7650
    Panasonic AG-1960P (has no TBC)
    Panasonic AG-1970P
    Panasonic AG-1980P a.k.a. Panasonic NV-FS 200 (PAL version)"

Now that I 'educated you', could someone educate me on my topic, thanks.

    The AG-1908P has a full-field TBC, not full-frame.

So is the sitcky incorrect? The post quoted was from you.

How about my other questions? Can you help me out with those. I know you provide a lot of information to the forum. I'm kind of new to the higher end equipment when it comes to coverting tape to dvd. Thanks.

First the AG-1980P is an NTSC model not PAL.

Second, according to the Panasonic data sheet, the TBC is "Full-field" (or field based) not frame based.

The manual has this for the AG-1980 TBC ...

The vertical jumping is an artifact of a field based TBC.

So shut it off and use an external full frame TBC.

The sticky needs an update, yes. I'm not done with it yet.

Your question is already answered in this post: http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/show...89&postcount=3

    You want both TBCs.
