I have purchased a GZ-HD6 about 2 month ago brand new from sealed box. Video is OK but in camera mode which I tested it only yesterday, pictures I took looks terrible on my 46" samsung LCD TV. Anyone knows what is going on?

Video cameras make pretty terrible "still" cameras....especially while zooming.

Do you mean nothing is wrong with the camcorder?
So if I want good HD photos I have to buy another digital SLR camera?

2.14 Megapixels effective resolution??? per amazon

My older GZ-MC500 is 5MP - accomplished with three CCDs, much in the same fashion.

To be brutally honest: I have an older Panasonic Lumix that's 3.9 MP, and it shoots better stills than either this Everio or my son's GZ-MC200 (2 MP).

It seems to be the camcorders do what they're supposed to do best: Shoot video; and the still cameras take better photos than video.

I can say that I appreciate the quality of the 500 in video mode, but have never much liked the still - it seems you may have the same situation.

They are great little cameras if you're into shooting video on the fly, and can live with the lesser still image quality.
