i am right now trying to back up all my dvd and blu ray collection that i have so far. i only want the main movie and the english audio track with english subs unless i choose otherwise. ive been able to rip the data off the disks based on the tutorials posted on this site but have been having the same error on handbrake everytime i try to encode the mkv of the movie speed racer i made with the tools. it always stops at 94.76 percent and im not sure why. has anyone else had this problem?

one other thing, as a side note... is mkv file container the best way to archive my dvds as a overall format or should i use something else like mp4? ogm?

THe mkv of the movie speed racer? Did you use makemkv to make the mkv or how?

I would probably try ripbot264 to convert from the blu-ray to mkv.

I've been happy with the MKV container with DTS 6 channel sound. I use AnyDVD HD to rip to my HDD, then RipBot to convert to 2 pass MKV with the output sized to a DL DVD disc. Rarely any problems. The downside is it takes about six hours to convert on my 3.4Ghz quad PC, but the quality is excellent, even on a big screen.

I have Speed Racer backed up to MKV with no errors. What exact error did your program report? There should have been a log. A very few BD rips I have had to run through tsMuxeR first to select the correct files, don't recall if I did that with SR.

    And welcome to our forums.

i used both dvdfab 6 and makemkv to ectract the movie from the blueray disc. Handbrake will take the mkv but ripbot wont. dont understand why since it will take a mkv of a dvd. Where would i be able to find the log file for the handbrake error? or should i just redo the process again and take a screen shot when it errors up on me?
