converting hvdvd on a mac os x

Hi,
I recently received a disk with hvdvd_ts. I can not play this on my mac (I have a 17" macbook pro 2.5 GHz Intel Core Duo).

Now I know that hvdvd is a dead format, but what software can I use to convert this to a format that's usable, preferably with intact menu structure.
Or is there a player which can play hvdvd (including menu not just .evo files).

I made the hvdvd directories into an iso, and tried to play it with Macs dvd player, but it kept giving me an error that it's not a valid movie file.

I have searched the forum here for a solution, but most threads are old, from 2007.
For example I found a thread with a reference to BACKUPHDDVD, which seemed promising but then this software doesn't exist anymore

VLC for example (and certainly other free/shareware apps: the open source library FFmpeg -used by VLC too- handles .evo files from a long time)

preferably with intact menu structure.

no hope


and now my question: how do you read your disk?
I have some HDDVD disks, but I don't manage to read them on my internal reader/burner.
How could you access to the contents of the disk?
(my concern is not to convert, it's only to access to its data )

I had already figured out that vlc can play the .evo files, so can mplayer.
My specific needs also include the menu system.
Without the menu it is nearly unusable, it is a semi-professional recording of my nephews christening.
So there are alot of 5-10 minute clips, and you really need the menu to navigate.

As for your question, I was able to mount it on my linux box. The disk contained the HVDVD_TS directory.

In another thread on this forum I found MakeMKV, which seems promising.
It is also the only software I was able to find that still exists.

Hopefully it can handle the iso image

A menu is not only a video (or a picture).
A menu depends on the whole structure (for interactivity)
you certainly could recover contents of your menu (picture or video) but not its interactivity.
(and if -I don't know how- you kept interactivity, which soft could play it? you still need an HDVD player software…)
