I've been trying to convert an MKV (with subtitles) to something readable on a PS3. I've done this often in the past with either VirtualDubMod or mkv2vob, but this time I ran into a snag. VirtualDubMod comes up with the following error:
I used DivX for the compression settings and a subtitle addon to hardsub, but in the end it comes out with no audio. When I use mkv2vob the audio is out of sync and then just kicks out after a while.MKV: the video may have a variable framerate. If so we strongly advise you to use another tool to safely process your file.
Here's all the information I can get from mediainfo:
I need the Japanese audio which is vorbis. I also have a whole directory like this, so if I can find a way to do it some sort of queuing or job control that'd be great. If not I don't mind the extra work. Hope someone can help.General

I think the best way to do this is to use 'mkv extract gui' and demux the audio and video streams (subtitle as well) of your mkv file. then you mux them back into an mp4 file using 'yamb'. and you are done in less than 30 seconds. No re-encoding will be necessary.
Actually if you did not have the subs you would not need mkv extract and you could have just dropped the mkv file into yamb directly but the problem is yamb wont like substation alpha format for subtitles so use subtitle workshop to convert those to srt or something before you mux with yamb
also remember that avi containers will not support variable frame ratesLast edited by natas18; 20th Jun 2010 at 01:03.
