How do you add menu links in TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4

I've started using TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 and it looks like a great app, but I'm stuck on one problem. I'm trying to create a menu from templates with a Top page followed by some Chapter Link pages. The Chapter Link pages are all fine, but I don't like the layout of the Top page - I'd like to add a background image to it of my choice and I'd like to add 2 text buttons called "Play" and "Scenes". I can add some text boxes but I can't work out how to link those to anything. I want "Play" to start playing from the start of the 1st chapter and I want "Scenes" to go to the first Chapter Link page. Does anyone know how to do this? It's very simple in DVDLab Pro, but I can't for the life of me work it out in TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4.

If you selected your template from 'Custom menu based on a template', then you can double-click on background and browse for background file source.

I'd like to add 2 text buttons
Those can only be added at template selection stage. If your template is 'top+track menu' type then buttons for 'play all' and for track selection (Scenes in your case, if there's just 1 title) are created in top page. Button type (text in your case) is selectable with the template for buttons in the page.
For scene (chapter) selection template you also define the number of buttons per page. Links to chapters are created automatically. You can only hide some unwanted buttons at editing stage, but the objects you add later can't be turned into buttons. Those are the limitations; also no menu transitions compared to DLP. But everything else in menu creation is easier and IMO better.
