I would like to convert some of my old mini DV's to computer for editing, etc. The problem is that the camera was stolen - is there any method/tool available to assist in doing such a conversion.

Thread: Converting DV wihtout camera

Not really.
DV playback decks often cost more than cameras. You may be able to rent a DV camera, or better, borrow one. Alternately, you may find a used one for purchase there locally.
You could also take your tapes to a service that can transfer your tapes to a different media. But DV is about 13GB/hour, so it may take quite a few DVDs unless you also had them convert to a different format like MPEG-DVD. But you would then lose some quality and the files wouldn't be as easy to edit as DV.
And welcome to our forums.
There are plenty of cheap used DV camcorders on eBay. Buy one. You can sell it again when you've finished.
Cheers,
David.
