  1. Hi!
I have a DVD Camera (Canon DC100) that I can record to small DVD-R disc. I also have the program Pinnacle Studio 9 for editing the video. Since Pinnacle Studio requires the movie to be in AVI format, I have tried convert my recorded movie to uncompressed AVI format using this guide: https://forum.videohelp.com/topic352376.html

My problem is that if I have recorded the movie in 16:9 on my videocamera, the XviD4PSP only allow me to use 1:333 (4:3) as output aspect.

If I check my source DVD video with MediaInfo I get this information:

    General
    Complete name : C:\Disc_31\VIDEO_TS\VTS_01_1.VOB
    Format : MPEG-PS
    File size : 11.1 MiB

    Video
    ID : 224 (0xE0)
    Format : MPEG Video
    Format version : Version 2
    Format profile : Main@Main
    Format settings, Matrix : Default
    Bit rate mode : Variable
    Bit rate : 9 400 Kbps
    Width : 720 pixels
    Height : 576 pixels
    Display aspect ratio : 16:9
    Frame rate : 25.000 fps
    Standard : PAL
    Colorimetry : 4:2:0
    Scan type : Interlaced
Scan order : Top Field First
    Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.907

It says that the Display aspect ratio is 16:9

These are the settings I use in XviD4PSP:

    Format: AVI DV PAL
    Video Encoding: DV Video

    I then select Video -->Resolution/Aspect...

These are the values that is preselected:
    Input Resolution: 720x576
    Output Resolution: 720x576
    Input Aspect: 1.342 (1:1)
    Output Aspect: 1.333 (4:3)

If I change the Input Aspect to 1.778 (16:9), I can't change the Output Aspect, as the only avaliable choice is 1.333 (4:3). This will resulting in black bars above and below my video, i.e the video is in 16:9, but with the black bars it will be in 4:3

I have then tried changing the format in XvD4PSP from AVI DV PAL to AVI
Then changed the encoding to: XviD HQ Ultra

    I then select Video -->Resolution/Aspect...

Now the values that is preselected:
    Input Resolution: 720x576
    Output Resolution: 720x576
    Input Aspect: 1.342 (1:1)
    Output Aspect: 1.343 (4:3)

If I change the Input Aspect to 1.778 (16:9) the Output Aspect changes to 1.800 (1:1) with a output resolution of 720x400
I can also change the output Aspect Ratio to 1.778 (16:9) and keep the Input Aspect Ratio to 1.342 (1:1), but the output resolution is still 720x400.

Maybe I haven't understand everything about the Aspect Ratio, but is it possible to get 720x576 as output resolution and still have a Aspect Ratio of 16:9 ?

If the source video is in 4:3 I don't have any problems with using XviD4PSP.

If you need additional information in order to give me some hints of what I'm doing wrong, just ask me.

    Kind Regards
    Znooky

output for the avi should be set to 1024x576 (1:1) if the input is 720x576 (16/9)
