hello. I captured a movie from a tape that has really bad audio. It's muffled. Any way to improve things? Please let me know.

    thanks!

    Here's one possibility: Inverse EQ

Set the eq to match the inverse of what the current response is (you can tell this by a spectrograph/freq. plot)

The resulting EQ will be flat (although you should NOT try too hard on the very ends/edges, they should dip down anyway)

NOTE: This will ALSO boost up hiss/noise. That is to be expected - can you live with this?

i can live with the hiss. I just wanna hear the audio so it's not like they're talking with a bandana over the microphone. Do you recommend any software to fix things? thanks for the help!

Any good audio editor app will do (particularly ones that accept DirectX, VST or other plugins):

    Audacity
    Adobe Audition (Cooledit)
    Goldwave
    Reaper
    Sony Sound Forge
    Digidesign ProTools
    Wavosaur

even dbPoweramp and Nero's editor should be able to do that.
