Is there a codec pack that is compatible with all the available video player?
I noticed that in some PCs there are codec packs that won't work well

Get a player with built in file readers, splitters, and decoders. Like MPCHC or KMPlayer. Then you have little need for DirectShow codecs. For the few audio and video codecs that aren't covered in those players use ffdshow.
