I tried backing up a DVD I own but it didn't go so well. I want to copy it to another DVD.

    Here's what I did:

    1. I ripped the original DVD using DVDSmith Movie Backup. This resulted in five VTS files.
    2. I tried to burn these to a DVD using Nero Vision. It told me that my files totaled 5.8 GB, which would not fit on a standard DVD.
    3. I used Nero Recode to convert the VTS files to mpeg4 files.
    4. I then used DVD Flick to author a DVD with the mpeg4 files. It worked, almost -- when I went to play the DVD back, there was video, but no sound. (Btw, when I ripped the original DVD, I got two folders: Audio and Video. However, nothing was in the audio folder).

Anyway, does anybody know how I can make a DVD from my five VTS files? Thanks!

Start over. Do NOT convert to mpeg4.

Use Nero Recode and shrink your dvd and burn it.

Or use DVD SHrink to shrink and burn the output using Imgburn.

Well, that didn't work! I opened up Nero Recode, clicked on Import DVD, and tried to import my VIDEO_TS folder. When I clicked OK, I received this message: "Nero Recode encountered an error and cannot continue. Failed to open the file c:\my videos\vanilla sky\video_ts. There are no more files."

    Now what?

Nevermind. I just found another folder just called dvd. Inside this, I found another video_ts folder. When I clicked on this one in Nero Recode, it worked!

Nope. This one has no sound either! Wonder what is going on here?

OK, I also tried burning the VTS files using IMGburn, and there is no sound here either. However, the files in my VIDEO_TS folder play with sound when I play them in PowerDVD. Why is it that when I burn them there's no sound on the DVD?
