At the moment I'm using dvdfab dvd to dvd to rip the main movie to my harddrive.
It does this in a video_ts format.
Great if you want to burn, I don't want that, I play my movies from the harddrive.
If I understand correctly the only codec that has no loss in quality is mpeg.
I have to use vob2mpeg to turn the video_ts to one big mpeg file.
I'm looking for an easier alternative>
Is there a dvd ripper that rips the main movie to a harddrive using the mpeg codec?

Within the VIDEO_TS folder is a series of VOB files. VOB is just a container that wraps up the mpeg videos along with subtitles, alternate language soundtracks, and chapter info. VOB2MPG does EXACTLY what you want, pulling the mpeg movie material out of the VIDEO_TS folder. There are no easier alternatives.
Rip the movie to your hard drive with DVDFab, then extract the movie as a single mpeg file with VOB2MPG. Thereafter, you can delete the original VIDEO_TS folder and its contents.
Is that really too hard for you?
I doubt you would find anything much easier than VOB2MPG with a decrypted DVD. But you could try the older DVD Decrypter. Since the VOB is already MPEG-2, there would be no quality loss with either VOB2MPG or DVD Decrypter. If you don't mind the extra cost, AnyDVD will decrypt on the fly and, then using VOB2MPG, you wouldn't have to rip the DVD to the HDD, just the MPEG-2.
With DVD Fab Platinum, you can use DVD to Mobile - Generic mode. Click next and then click Conversion Settings. Under Device, choose VOB. Encoding Method = Pass Through and No Split.
Then you can use VOB2MPEG or VideoRedo to convert the VOB to MPEG2. Most players will play the single VOB though (which is an MPEG file in a VOB container).
Another option is to rip the full disc to an ISO(DVDFab and DVDDecrypter can do this) and play it with VLC(or WD Media Player),that way you keep all the menus and functions.

Tried the vobpassthrough methode, works great.
The vob file plays just like a normal mpg file with no problems, no need to convert anymore.
Thank you very much DarrellS
