Just got my first Blue Ray player, Memorex brand, last week, as an early Christmas present.
Now, I've heard that certain Blue Ray DVDS will not play, due to issues.
So far, all is good, with the 15 Blue Ray DVDS, I have.
    Is this true ?

You need to re-write that and describe accurately your situation. You say that you have a "player", yet Memorex is a brand of media and the rest of your post seems to indicate that you are asking a media question. BluRay and DVD don't go together. You do not have "Blue Ray DVDS". Are you asking if Memorex brand BluRay discs that you burned already or will burn in the future will work on BluRay players? What exactly did you burn, assuming you have already burned something? BluRay format? AVCHD?

I'm taking away your captaincy for such a bad post. You are now busted down to Lieutenant Video.

Actually Memorex does sell a BD player under their brand name. No idea who the manufacturer is: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ct_id=10779613

The 'certain' BD discs may be referring to 'BD+' features. The discs should play but you may not be able to use those features. No real lose, IMO.

Just to clarify, DVDs and a Blu-ray discs are not the same thing. They use completly different media and an entirely different format. You can convert some Blu-ray video to play on a DVD, but then it's a DVD.

But to your original question, most any Blu-ray player should play most any Blu-ray, if it's the proper type for your location. They are regionally coded just like commercial DVDs. Not all Blu-ray features are available on all players either, but you will see that warning when you play a BD disc.

No I don't need to REWRITE anything.
Memorex makes BLUE RAY PLAYERS, just like Sony does, etc.
If you would read what I wrote, It's perfectly clear.

I apologize for not knowing that Memorex actually makes a BluRay player. You got me on that one.

However, redwudz and I are both trying to tell you that your insistence on saying "Blue Ray DVDS" is wrong and not really helpful. If you don't get that, not much I can do here. Your post still sucks.

My best guess based on your inability to accurately describe your situation is that this player may not be fully compliant with the final BluRay spec. I can't tell from the WalMart website as it doesn't say. If that is the case, the movie on a BluRay disc should always play but some extras may or may not work for you. If there are issues with specific titles not playing, you'll have to take that up with the manufacturer. The odds are that you won't have a problem, but nobody can give you a 100% guarantee. Memorex hardly means "quality" any more, so if there was a BluRay player that was going to have problems, this would probably be the one.

What don't you understand ? Please, pay attention, as their will be a quiz latter !!
By the way, my Memorex Blue Ray player works fine, no problems at all. and Memorex also makes Verbatim Blank DVDS, which I have used, and I have never had any problems with.
Blue Ray DVDS is what I'm talking about.
Supposedly that some of the Blue Ray DVDS people have, won't play in certain players, and firmware downloads must be used,

Also, if you take more then 1 second to read what I write, you would notice my post does not "SUCK" !!

Correction: Memorex doesn't make Verbatim DVDRs. Every one I've ever seen had a manufacturer I.D. (MID) of MCC (Mitsubishi Chemical Corp.) AFAIK, Memorex DVDRs are usually the cheapest possible, i.e. CMC Magnetics.

Which isn't to say your player is junk, just that you don't know who actually made it. Memorex makes nothing, it's all rebadged. It would probably be possible to find out who made it with a little digging. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say maybe Funai.

Do you know what profile your player is? It might play BD-Live, it might not. Don't worry, if you don't care about BD-Live crap, you have no problem. :P

What you may be asking about is AVCHD videos burned on DVD media. Not all players can play them. But those are not Blu-ray format or discs. AVCHD uses the MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) video codec. It can have similar performance to Blu-ray discs. It's commonly used on HD camcorders.
