I have a philips Blu ray player and I saw on their website that they now have an update for my player, but it's in a BIN format, how do I burn the BIN file to a disc to update the player? I tried using both roxio and nero but neither worked for me.

Check the website for downloads ... possible there was only the bin file but some have secondary files.

Simply burn the files to cd as ordinary data disc ... not as IMAGE file as that's incorrect

Imgburn can do this if nero is causing problems

The Philips player should recognize the .bin file either on a CD or a USB thumb drive, then it will give you instructions. Remove it and reboot the player when it's done.

And this thread would be better in the DVD & Blu-ray Players Forum. Moving you.
