  1. Well I already tried this and the sound is very quiet (Not normalized). Moreover it needs more time to convert doesnt it?
Isnt there any way to make wavi.exe work? Some fixes?

    EAC3TO is faster, much faster

there is an option available to normalize

as for wavi the only way is to try in another computer, can't do anything about it because is external

  3. Okay thanks.
But MKV2AC2 says that normalize isnt available for eac3to?!

what version do you have ?

you can normalize with EAC3TO, that option is available since version : MKV2AC3 Update - version 1.03.01 - Build 14/01/2011

I don't know if that message appears in the last version, if it is ... well is just a small bug giving false information, forget it

  5. Im using v1.03.04 and I see a normalize checkbox. But it seems the sound is more quiet than the original

if you are testing the results in your PC remember that your codecs should be well configured to decode AC3

better is you take your MKV and test it in your TV or standalone player

I have one more question: Will there be the posibility to split the files into 4GB parts? Or do I need another program for this?

You can use MKVTOOLNIX that is part of MKV2AC3

just load the resulting converted file

    menu Global -> enable splitting

select your size and then Start Muxing

The purpose of MKV2AC3 was to make a program as simple as possible, i.e., without many options, almost a one-click-solution for newbies or advanced users. Check the first post of this thread

  9. Hi (again) I thought your tool had FLAC support... I'm ALMOST possitive that EAC3TO supports it... WOuld you consider adding it to your tool?
Thanks, and keep up the good work my man

    Hi,

it is not officially supported but I just have converted a sample FLAC-MKV with eac3to and it works

I have included some code in the program that manages that type of audio

but as I said, it is not official but I left a door open in the code

    try it

Hi Delta2, Great program - thanks for developing it. Have used it a lot lately.

However, am trying to convert a movie (MKV) and am getting
ERROR ! check if you have a 64bit MKV2AC3 version. Conversion from string to type 'Integer' is not valid.

So, I have downloaded and run the version in post #106 (above) and still the same error.

So, being new to this stuff I downloaded the 64 bit version from the same post #106. Thinking maybe I do need the 64 bit version to convert this particular movies sound.

Now though I get the error when I go to install, 'This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Contact your product vendor'.

My Computer is a AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor. 5200+ 2.61gig. 2.75 gig Ram.
Windows XP Pro Version 2002. Service Pack 2.

Should it run fine (The 64 bit version) on this system ?

Thanks for any help and sorry if the 64 bit thing is a daft question.

uninstall completely the program and make a fresh install

    32 bits :

    64 bits :

    https://www.videohelp.com/download/mkv2ac3_1_03_04_64bits.zip

onde of them must work in your system

    Thanks for the reply.

As I said above - the 32 bit version works fine but, on the movie I am trying to convert at the moment, I get this .....
ERROR ! check if you have a 64bit MKV2AC3 version. Conversion from string to type 'Integer' is not valid.
That is the reason I was going to try the 64 bit version.

So now, I have done as you suggest, trying to install the 64bit version I STILL get the error 'This installation package is not supported by this processor type. Contact your product vendor'.

So if we go back to my original problem however, I am trying to convert a movie (MKV) and am getting
ERROR ! check if you have a 64bit MKV2AC3 version. Conversion from string to type 'Integer' is not valid.

I have just followed your above link and downloaded and installed the 32bit version again.
Tried to covert the MKV file and I still get ........
ERROR ! check if you have a 64bit MKV2AC3 version. Conversion from string to type 'Integer' is not valid.

Any ideas ? Thanks for your advice

Ok Delta2, This is strange, but I tried another download of the file and this time it converts without a problem.

Obviously there was something slightly different about the first file, as the error messages show.

Seems now that maybe the file is sometimes to blame ?

Anyways, thanks for a great program and your help.

Your problem is something due to mediainfo that couldn't retrieve correctly some info that movie

If you look to the main folder of MKV2AC3 there is a file named MediaInfo.DLL

I don't know the version of that file, maybe is old, you can update that file from here :

    http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en/Download/Windows

You should select the DLL interface for the 64 bits version of Windows

  22. Any news on that , delta?

    Perhaps also add something like:

    [x] Overwrite source file

So I wouldnt need to remove all the "_ac3" from the files..?

    THanks!

    2. Allow window resize

Hello Delta, I have nothing to say but thanks for your software, it has been very helpfull and it had save me lots of problems. However, I have an issue with one particular movie that I haven't could to convert it to AC3 with any of both methods MKV2AC3 allows.

Whenever I try to convert it with aften method, after sometime of working it says that wavi.exe has stopped working and whener I try to convert it with eac3to it says: ERROR ! Try the other method of conversion.

The mediainfo of the movie is this:

    Hello!
Firstly, thank you so much for the fantastic tool.
I have one problem, and I have searched for it so I wouldn't be going over old ground, but I cannot find it anywhere - which is odd.

Regardless of the original - or source format, and regardless of their bit-rate, I cannot configure the 6 channel AC3 output to be anything other than 448 Kbps. Regardless of whether I want it a lower rate, or a larger rate. The 'AC3 normalize' function makes no difference - and given the (usually fantastic) simplicity of the interface, there is simply no way to fiddle with variables.

    Can anybody help with this?
    Dodgy version, perhaps?

    Thanks very much,
    Simon J

you're saying that you can't set a lower bitrate or higher ?

Which method do you use ?

Hello: I did not look at this thread completely but I did look at the file your having problems with and here is what I would do with it..First I would run it through the newest version mkvtoolnix/mkvmerge and uncheck the vorbis soundtrack and just let mkvmerge rewrite the file it takes a minute or so,,the file you have left will just contain the video, dts, and subtitle text..Then I would run that file through Mkv2ac3 as you normally do..Once in a while mkv2ac3 has trouble with audio Ids,,if they are not there then the problem dissapears..All im ever concerned with is converting the dts file to ac3...If this fails then I rencode the whole file to an mkv/1024X576/ac3/6 file using theTX264 encoder or just dump the whole file and look for a different one..I hope this helps you and good luck...~
