  3. Can someone help me with downloading some RMTPE files from citytv.com? I use Vista 64-bit, Firefox 8(?).
I can't seem to get the hang of rtmpdump, and no other program works.

  4. Hi,

This program seems to work fine for rmtpe streaming capture, even encrypted: http://www.streamtransport.com/

I've tested it and it successfully grabbed the video at http://3voor12.vpro.nl/tv/#/41129552/44266170/11 that someone was having problem to download!

Hope you have luck with it!

    See ya

You can download citytv.com videos easily with rtmpdump but you won't have any luck in opening/playing ripped videos from there!! Don't waste your time!!

Seems here(this forum) is not comfortable for pasting these, It makes plus "space" in the script!!
use this to see your working url: http://pastebin.com/2F2nqzuh (copy and paste this into your batch script and run it)

    "-a" is the application path
"-f" is the flash player version that you use
"-W" is the flash player path
"-y" is the video play path
    "-p" is the page refer

-f and -p aren't so important values/parameters in your script!! you can remove those!!

If you use rtmpexplorer, it gets those parameters and download video automatically.

  18. I am trying to download the video at this URL:
    http://watch.discoverychannel.ca/mayday#clip595391

You will need a Canadian IP for this. I tried using rtmpexplorer but it only downloads the advertisement vid and then sits and hangs.

    It comes up with:
    Code:
    rtmpdump -r "rtmp://cp45909.edgefcs.net:1935/ondemand?ovpfv=2.1.4" -a "ondemand?
    ovpfv=2.1.4" -f "WIN 10,3,183,7" -W "http://watch.discoverychannel.ca/Flash/play
    er.swf?themeURL=http://watch.discoverychannel.ca/themes/Discoverynew/player/them
    e.aspx" -p "http://watch.discoverychannel.ca/mayday" -C Z: -y "mp4:preroll/2011/
    10/07/JKPrius_family_ENGPreRoll15Sec_1920.mp4" -o JKPrius_family_ENGPreRoll15Sec
    _1920.flv
I don't want the preroll, I want the actual vid! The embed tag, which has several parameters, might help in generating the correct rtmpdump is here

    Thanks kindly for any help!

    Hey Bahman
Have you tried using VLC to mux your downloads?
With this version:- VLC media player 1.2.0-pre3 Twoflower

    In your command above.....
    Change this:-

    Code:
    -o DISC-MDAY-1103-CLIP01.flv
    Into this:-
    Code:
    -o - | "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" - --sout "#std{access=file,mux=mkv,dst=C:\
    DISC-MDAY-1103-CLIP01.mkv}" vlc://quit

paste in your browser, you will get another link like this:

    Decode the above url:
    Code:

Paste config url in your browser again, scroll down page:
    Code:

    OK, here it is:
    Code:
    http://smoothreplay.rai.it/ReplayTV/replaytv_raitre-isml/2011-12-19-16-38-42-826/Segment225/replaytv_raitre.ism/Manifest
You need an Italian IP to opening it!!

I used ISM downloader, but It said:
    Code:
ERROR: Video FourCC 'AVC1' is not supported!
Then, I tried to download each chunks (1800 chunks) in order to mux them and create a .mkv file!! but I don't know how to!!
    for example, first chunk url:
    Code:
    http://smoothreplay.rai.it/ReplayTV/replaytv_raitre-isml/2011-12-19-16-38-42-826/Segment225/replaytv_raitre.ism/QualityLevels(1500000)/Fragments(video=8699442670000)

This is a rather general question, and not OT because the issue has come up a couple times already in this thread. If you must have a particular IP location to be able to get something, is it possible to use a proxy having the required IP for that country or region, in order to do so ? Or is that so much of a tech hassle that very few can or will bother doing it ?

I had heard of this limiting of the IP-location access before, and wondered how common it is, and how they arrange that ? I guess I'm lucky that I haven't run into this so far.
When in Las Vegas, don't miss the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ -- with over 150 tables from 6+ decades of this quintessentially American art form.

Yes, it's possible to use a proxy server. But the free proxy servers usually have very limited bandwidth and protocols. It's impractical to sign up for paid services in different countries around the world.

Ranges of IP addresses are assigned to different countries, companies, and institutions around the world. It's easy to determine where a particular IP address resides.

That part, sure. I meant: what is the mechanism by which the site implements a "we'll allow access or downloads from this IP, but not from that IP" ?
