After doing a lot of Googling I tried the trial version of Replay Capture Suite. The trial version limits you to recrording just 2 minutes of a stream, but it worked perfectly on the test movie I chose. So I bought the full product, $79. HOWEVER, the full version refuses to record the stream, (of that same movie) or any other stream from that site (and a number of other pay video sites), as it generates a pop-up that says that it might be infringing copyright, and so refuses to record. It goes on to say that the only way to 'legally' record the movie is to use another product in the suite, a screen recorder, that produces much lower resolution copies, full of stop/starts and stuttering throughout.

I also tried two freeware products, Tubedigger and StreamTransport, but they require you to enter the URL of the movie site in their own GUI, and when I log in to my subscription sites, and try to select the movie to watch, it fails, with a 'Script error on page' (Expected identifier, string or number) dialog in both products, the embedded flash player never appears (just a blank space, with 'You need Adobe Flash installed' above it). Logging in via any browser (IE, FF, Chrome) does not produce any script errors, and the embedded flash player appears no problem.

I then downloaded the RTMPExplorer package, and URLSnooper. URLSnooper reported a *.swf file URL whenever I opened a movie to watch, and an rtmpe file url. The files were of the form:

    h t t p://abcde4567.somesite.com/member/ninja/player/4feb3b5808bd54feb3b5808c0e_4feb3b5808bd5.swf

    and

    rtmpe://somesite.com/moviegenre

I opened RTMPExplorer, closed rtmpsvr and opened rtmpsuck, then pasted the *.swf url into RTMPExplorer and prayed. No luck, nothing happened.

Anyone any ideas what to try next?

Got your PM on this also, but a public forum should be your best bet for this. I'm afraid I've never heard of NRJ Dance or that website, and don't know what this refers to. Are we talking about some particular software here ? Site-embedded software ? What browser ? There must be others here who know a lot more about this.

Hi, I'm trying to download this video: http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-november-21-2002/kevin-james

    Code:
    rtmpdump -r "rtmpe://viacomccstrmfs.fplive.net:1935/viacomccstrm" -a "viacomccstrm" -W "http://media.mtvnservices.com/player/prime/mediaplayerprime.1.12.1.swf" -p "http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-november-21-2002/kevin-james" -y "mp4:gsp.comedystor/com/dailyshow/TDS/season_07/episode_064/ds_07064_06_gst_640x480_1600_m30.mp4" -o ds_07064_06_gst_640x480_1600_m30.mp4
Using rtmpdump 2.4, I've tried virtually every single combination of inputs I could find, but I keep getting this error:

    Code:
    RTMPDump 2.4 git-6230845 2011-9-25
    (c) 2010 Andrej Stepanchuk, Howard Chu, The Flvstreamer Team; license: GPL

WARNING: HandShake: Type mismatch: client sent 6, server answered 9
    INFO: Connected...
    ERROR: rtmp server sent error
    ERROR: rtmp server requested close
    Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: Do I /have/ to have v2.5? Is it just not possible with v2.4?

  10. Hi, I've tried everything on the tutorial of the first page and cannot download the video.

The "standard" url to the video (player) is this one:
    Code:
    http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1173939812001?bckey=AQ~~,AAAAFDJ-STk~,O_UTJPLxsFAuKTLYR42vmNQg-lP9p4nb&bctid=1767129324001
Using the sniffer URL Snooper I can get the url of the video itself (a url ending on a .mp4 file), but when I try to download it, the rtmpdump fails prompting an error message that the video cannot be downloaded.

I then tried orbyt downloader. The grab++ gets the url of the video too, but when I try to download it stays on "connecting" for some minutes, then prompts a failed download.

Any idea on how I could download the video?
After doing some research I've seen that Brightcove uses some kind of encryption called "TTL" which gives a token expiration time to the streamings. Even if I try downloading when the video is playing the download fails.

Could anyone help me with this on how to download the video?

    Thanks.

I didn't notice that stream isn't rtmpe! Because it's rtmp, you can rip video with Coojah+Blader, IDM and many more!

Yes, I said BrightCove's rtmp streams are the easier ones! but rtmpe ones, not! because, as gryphus said, "Brightcove uses some kind of encryption called "TTL" which gives a token expiration time to the streaming."

anyhow, It's not token, It's Auth string!

  17. Thank you Bahman for your good job! But it didn't work on my computer maybe because the secureToken has changed. How can I get it from my computer ?

    Hello there, friends.
I've been trying to download the videos from this site
    http://canalbrasil.globo.com/programas/larica-total/videos/index.html

It's not a rtmp stream, but no program will download these, it seems. It's just a tv-webseries, but
HiDownload, DownloadHelper and Rplay Media Catcher won't get these files.

SecureToken is same yet! Just I can guess that you are running rtmpdump from a batch file! you need to put double %!
I mean, your command will be:
    Code:
    rtmpdump -r "rtmpe://media.rtc.be/vod" -a "vod" -W "http://rtc.be/player-rtc.swf" -T "o%%p#i7Su@a" -y "mp4:2012072851-test.mp4" -o mp4_2012072851-test.flv

  20. @ Bahman
    You're the best ! It's working now I've put double %
The download worked fine. For the token, you used IDM, I'll take a look on it. Thank you very much.
My praise to rtmpdump developpers. And thanks to all people who help newbies in this forum.

Here I'm again. I'm trying to find that token with IDM as you said. Only a html file is downloaded.

oh boy, using IDM was a reply to another user (valp)! not you!
For finding Token, You should decompile swf file with flasm and then search for token in decompiled swf file!

    Hello,

I was trying to download some videos from the Olympic games, using RTMP explorer, but no luck. I initially tried StreamSupport. It detects the stream, but only downloads about 1 MB of the video and then stops, never resumes..

As I do not have much knowledge with the rtmpdump, I used the explorer, the URL I was trying to download is this:

    http://www.dolce-sport.ro/sporturi/jocurile-olimpice/jocurile-olimpice/gimnastele-au-r...port-ro-14466/

When I paste the URL in the explorer in the cmd prompt I see this:

    http://screencast.com/t/j0mW82XtY

If I try about 10 times hitting the back and go button, it eventually starts to download the video, but it reaches a certain % and then stops, never resumes..

I am really totally lost on this, any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Thank you in advance!

    You are so AWESOME!!

How did you form these commands? I have a couple more videos to download, and also want to learn to do them myself?

    Thanks a lot!!!

P.S. Did they work for you? I got excited too early.. I ran them and the download was interrupted at about 6% every time:
