How to download flash video RTMP/RTMPE streams using free software

Hi guys

This is my first post so please forgive me if I screw it up.

Been reading a heap of posts on here but nothing seems to assist me with my predicament.

In short, I'm trying to download a stream from watchespn.com Usually I get the streams no problems via rtmpdump. Most of the files on the site download as flv's but some that are up there seem to be TS files.

Rtmpdump cannot find any links. IDM won't download. Any ideas?

after viewing the ep1, it appeared to be an interesting watch, so, thank you for the these episodes. i think there are five in all.

anyway. i was able to download them all (and will watch the remaining, shortly) using RTMPDumpHelper.exe set to (F9=RTMP Server - rtmpsrv.exe) because the rtmpsuck.exe would not do anything. i was using opera. but it was tricky and picky for me. sometimes after downloading a video, it would not download the next. so, my trick was to close RTMPDumpHelper completely and restart it. then, i would go to the episode list, and right-click the next one (the image) and then select copy url. then open a new tab and paste the link in and let the browser do its thing and RTMPDumpHelper would start up after a few seconds or so, every time. i did this for all five videos.

i think these are all the videos, except for ep5, i closed down the console too soon, and the comment.txt log file seems to double everything and making the param string much longer, making it confusing. i would just try them all over again using the steps i laid out above, otherwise, try these links (before they expire, or maybe they did)

I've downloaded RTMPDumpHelper, carefully read documentation. I started the soft with rtmpsuck, then Firefox, but I had the "attach" error message. It took time but I then discovered the Error column at the right of the window, with a message about a 32 / 64-bit conflict.

I redownloaded the 32-bit RTMPDumpHelper software and this time it worked. I started to play the first episode in Firefox and the download started successfully.

But there's something I can't get to work: get the "high quality" stream (768 x 432 pixels instead of 512 x 288 on this website). There's adaptative bitrate at the beginning, the player starts with the 512 x 288 pixels 539 kb/s stream, which is downloaded, then switches to the higher quality stream, wich isn't downloaded. Any idea how I could download this one?

if you move the mouse over the video and right-click it to select 'copy address', the suppose video link returned is actually the websites link and not the actual video link.

to get around that issue and discover the true video link,

1. move the mouse over the video -- the brightness will dim slightly
2. on the right, you will see a 3-bar line or ellips,
3. select it and a sliding window will open left-ward, showing the actual video and other videos in that list
4. move the mouse to the video in question and right-click the Title and select 'copy link address'
5. now use that in youtube-dl to get the video format(s) and select the one's qulity you want to download.
7. example --> youtube-dl -F https://br.screen.yahoo.com/na-mira-r-gis-carnaval-185035813.html
8. the results return formats (0=240x134, 1=320x180, ... 8=1280x720)
9. and download the video, ie, the highest quality 8
10. example --> youtube-dl -f 8 https://br.screen.yahoo.com/na-mira-r-gis-carnaval-185035813.html
11. finished, now watch the video.

as for step 10, instead, i would use all the parameters like this:

youtube-dl --no-mtime --write-description --write-thumbnail -l -t --no-part -c -f 8 https://br.screen.yahoo.com/na-mira-r-gis-carnaval-185035813.html

my suggestion is to move the mouse over the image that represents the video and see if it changes in some way as to indicate additional features or functions to use, because this may reveal the actual links and save you the time of searching other ways like urlsnooper or rtmpdumphelper, etc etc., as was the case for the above video.
