EXIF capable slideshow editor

I’m looking for some flexible and easy to use software to create DVD slideshows.

I need to be able to order photos in date/time sequence according to the EXIF data from multiple sources

e.g
2 Digital cameras and a phone camera, all on 1 slideshow with photos ordered by date/time taken.

Ability to add audio and customise the slideshow would be nice.

So far I’ve tried

Magix Photos on CD&DVD Deluxe 2.0, Nero 6, Pro Show Gold, Windows Live Movie Maker.

I’d be grateful for any recommendations

I'll give the trial a go, however is there anything out there without the huge price tag as this is for home use (family holiday snaps) and I figure Lightroom is overkill for this - unless there's not many other programs with exif support?

DVD slideshow GUI (freeware) can use EXIF data(from jpg) as subtitles. Subtitles can automatically be sorted in alphabetic order. Afterwards can the subtitles be deleted or swiched off.

When importing a folder of photos (slides) for a slideshow, unfortunatley the program stops responding when it reaches about the 10th image.

If you're importing heavy images then wait(the interface may look idle - but give it a change to fiinsh) or downsize your images.

Ok thanks, looks like waiting for the program to add the files (during 'not responding') works.

There are 3 sets of photos in the slideshow, from 3 different cameras.

I would like the slideshow to show the photos in sequence of when they were taken, regardless of which camera they came from.

This is where I was hoping the EXIF data would come in. Each file has valid EXIF date and time data - can you explain how the subtitle feature can pick up on this to order the photos correctly.

I don't want to have to edit properites of each individual photo, as there are nearly 1000 in the collection.

Okay, there are two ways to get EXIF data imported into DSG.

One is in the Project Settings menu > Import Settings/Subtitles > Photo Data where you can select what EXIF data should be imported as subtitle.
And the other one is to select in DSG the photos you want to add EXIF data to and in Slide Settings menu change the Photo Data combobox to what you want to be added.

Then select Edit > Sort Subtitles and they will be sorted alphabetic.

I don't want to have to edit properites of each individual photo, as there are nearly 1000 in the collection.

Rendering a slideshow out of 1000 photos will demand a lot of RAM and a fast computer... You might try to learn how to use DSG with a few slides first.
