Does anyone do any digital audio crossovering during multi-channel playback of a DVD movie? If so, how?
Practically all DVD software players are DirectSound. One would need a XO audio filter which can be inserted in the movie playback. For example, in its audio codec configuration ffdshow has a whole series of filters, but none with XO capability. Convolver is not a XO plugin as such.
I am aware of a few VST plugins, like Allocator, which are ASIO compatible. As much as I would like using ASIO for movie playback, I believe that no ASIO compatible DVD players exist and one has to get into a very complicated set-up to convert to WAV and then to ASIO (VAC -> plugin host -> plugin -> ASIO4ALL) which unfortunately it is also very unstable. I tested it with VAC -> Console -> Allocator LT -> ASIO4ALL.
I own a LynxTWO-B sound card.
Thanks in advance for your help.
