Don't know if it's the player or the VB6ROCOD firmware or the new copy protection.
What ever it is, it took me about 20 min of watching to realize that at each chapter break
it would randomly select another chapter from somewhere else in the movie.

Pulled the disk out and put it in my PS3. Sad to say... plays fine in my PS3. I do have one 5990
that I didn't change the firware on so after the movie is over I'll try it in that one and see if
it also has the same problem.

I had a movie do the same thing a few months ago -- I don't remember which one. I'm running one of the VB6 mod firmwares too. But I the same movie wouldn't even play on another standalone player I tried. I think I ended up ripping it and watching via my HTPC.

After watching the movie on my PS3 without any problems I put the disk back in the 5990. This time instead of having it automatically begin playing without going to the menu ( a function of the VB6....firmware) I selected the menu and played it from the menu screen. This time it played normally.

Evidently, there is something with this movie that if you skip the menu selection the movie just skips around.

No. It's quite common to have multiple IFO's refer to the same VOB files, just parsed differently. I believe it's used for things like multiple angles, etc.
