I see that costco has the LG BD260 on for $199, and I'm tempted to get one, but all I can find out about it is that it will connect to the internet for some features and firmware updates etc. I also just stopped at a Brick store and noticed that a lot of the players have ethernet ports now, but say little about exactly what you get with this network connectivity.
What I am looking for is if they will play content from your home LAN, be it mkv, iso, divx, vob etc. , and if they will read from connected PC's, NAS, etc. Even the LG website does not go into much detail about the network capabilities, other than say some models will play youtube etc, which I could care less about.
I just purchased an Asus O!play so I can access the hundreds of stored files I have scattered across my network, but eventually I am going to need a blu ray player, and when I get one I want it to have network access capability as well. I may wait for the newest popcorn hour that has a bay for a blu ray player, but its a tad pricey and if new blu ray players can access the network the same as my O!Play then that should do the trick.
Anyone here have the BD360? Can it (or others) access network drives?
thanks!

Either install BR in a headless, always on machine, or WOL, or in a machine you power for TV, then 'share' the device on LANI want it to have network access capability as well
.. or something like the popcorn hour C-200
BR is the pricey in your equation. Wanting a less costly and as efficacious popcorn is delusional IMObut its a tad pricey
