Hey all,
I am new to these forums and have not yet lurked around so please pardon me if this has already been discussed...
I am editing with Final Cut Pro 6 on a relatively new MacBook Pro (2.8 GHz and 4 GB Memory). I run my project files off of one external hard drive and save all my rough cuts, finals, capture scratch, etc. on another. I mainly edit in HD video now...mostly 1080 24p at top quality resolution (I shoot on a JVC HM100U ProCamcorder).
The long and short of it is...that I am currently working on a project and I am doing extremely beginners animation for the opening title sequence...so I have an image underneath text that moves...My question is: Why does it take SO LONG to render??? I am aware that Final Cut Pro inherently takes a while to render text simply because it has to create each frame, but we're talking a minimum of a half hour for maybe 10-20 seconds worth of an animation.
Can anyone shed some light on this situation?

What is the exact format of the underlying video? If you leave off the title but make some sort of alteration to the video, how long does it take to render the alteration?
I am shooting in 1080 at 24 frames with a 1920 X not sure resolution. Again, it all depends on what I am doing...When it comes to footage rendering time is decently quick, but when I do graphics, animation, or text, it DRAMATICALLY slows down.Originally Posted by rumplestiltskin
Some key points to consider:
* Fonts should not be font info, but should be flattened as a bitmap.
* All Graphics should not be bigger than ACTUAL SIZE, 72dpi.
Anything bigger than that and FCP will throw out those extra pixels.
*Animations are best imported in as Quicktime .mov files,
with all layers flattened, (text especially), sized to actual size
of your timeline, to avoid long render times in FCP.
Now look at the above, and compare to what you are having problems
with and see how you can fix yours."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."
