Sorry if this topic has already been discussed, wasn't able to find a previous thread on it.
Just curious if there's a way to cut the credits from a mkv rip of a bluray? Since I'm just creating backups of actual hardcopies that I own there's no need to keep the credits in the rips, ya know?
Currently, I use eac3to to demux the audio and let ripbot do the video demuxing and final assembly.
Another question, would the editing need to be done to the final mkv file, or would I need to chop from the demuxed video/audio streams?
Thanks in advance!

The first idea that comes to mind is to use mkvmerge GUI (part of the mkvtoolnix) to split the .mkv file into two parts - one part that is the movie up to the credits and one part that is the credits - and then delete the second piece. To do this, open mkvmerge GUI, drag and drop the .mkv file into the "Input files" area, under the "Global" tab look for the checkbox that says "Enable splitting..." and check it, select the "...after this duration" button and then put in the time (in hh:mm
s.sss form) when the credits begins (such as 1:25:44.5 if the credits start after one hour, twenty five minutes, and forty four and a half seconds) - note that the partial seconds (in this example, the .5) is not necessary but can be helpful. To be on the safe side, in the "max. number of files" box put 2 (since you just want two files, one before the credits and one after.) Select the output file name and let it go. It'll make two files (I think it puts "-1" and "-2" at the ends of the file names or something like that) and you should be able to just delete the second file and then you're set.
There might be other ways of doing this, but that's the idea that comes to mind.
snap! it worked! thanks!!
Nice! There might be easier/"better" ways out there, but hey if it works, can't complainOriginally Posted by FTW
