I've just installed ffmpegx with the sole purpose of converting h264 video to Xvid. However, I get the following error message when processing:
Cannot find codec matching selected -vo and video format 0x68637061.
Do I have to install Xvid separately? Where should it go, which folder?

0x68637061 is "apch", not "divx" or "xvid". Hex chart: http://www.ascii.cl/
I think you need Final Cut Studio: http://www.hv20.com/archive/index.php?t-8058.html
I don't know what choices you have but for best results you usually want to use an uncompressed or losslessly compressed YUV format.
With ffmpegX, you could try the XviD ffmpeg preset in combination with the 'Decode with QuickTime' option setting (to utilize FCP's ProRes codec).
that didn't work. i get an .avi which is not video, but still frames that last for about 3 minutes eachOriginally Posted by Case
