  1. I purchased a D-Link DSM-510 off eBay cheap ($65) and I'm wanting to get some recommendations on what would be a good format to encode with..I have a lot of video in high quality format like h.264 (mkv) which I know it can't play directly and I'd like to re-encode it in a format that would keep as much of the quality as possibly. I know I could use a media server like TVersity..but at time that can be tricky as well with the video being encoded on the fly by your PC.

    The media player shows that it will play the following formats...

    SUPPORTED VIDEO FORMATS

    MPEG-1
    MPEG-2
    MPEG-4
    WMV9
    XVID with MP3 or PCM
    DVR-MS
    AVI (MPEG-4 Layer Only)
    DivX

    SUPPORTED AUDIO FORMATS

    MP3
    WMA & AIFF (PCM Only)
    WAV Audio
    Ogg Vorbis

  2. Use something like AutoGK or Xvid4PSP and use the xvid/divx hardware profiles. Or MPEG 2 with DVD compatability.
