  1. I downloaded this as an FLV file:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cr38p9tBw2A&feature=PlayList&p=FAD432DCA8F375C0&index=0&playnext=1

...but I can't seem to get it converted to MP4. I normally use Nidesoft Video Converter for this but when I load it in there it say 0:00 for duration (though it plays OK on my FLV player) and therefore won't convert, it says "successful" but there's no file in the destination folder.

I tried using HandBrake and http://www.vixy.net/flv_converter like it says to do on this site with no luck (vixy just says the file is too big).

Bottom line is I use Roxio to burn DVD's for my set top DVD player and Roxio (or Adobe Premiere Elements 7 which I also have for that matter) won't recognize FLV files so I need to at least get it to MP4 to convert to mpg so I can burn this to a disc I can watch on my set top player so any help on this would be great. I have Vista (and it took a while to figure out what I could use with it since the stuff I used on XP won't work with my Vista tower, I used to use Decrypter, Womble MPEG Video Wizard, CloneDVD, AnyDVD/DVD43, Ulead DMF 3 & Video ReDo) if that's of any help.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

  2. You can try flv extract, and then yamb to rewrap it into mp4 container. This difference with this method is that it doesn't re-encode, only repackages, and should be much faster

If you re-encode, you lose quality by encoding to something in mp4 container and then again to MPEG2 for DVD. The quality is pretty poor to begin with. You can probably use avstodvd or convertxtodvd directly on the flv to do it in 1 step without the intermediate stage quality loss. You might need flvsplitter installed for this method
