anybody had this problem- blu-ray lose integrity or lg drivre defective

bought this unit LG GGW-H20L and burned 50 blu-rays or so with traxdata brand name ,25gb at 4x and 2x with both power2go and imgburn . udf 2.0 .
anyway . blu-rays were watchable and at the time of burning were checked okay . suddenly when i accessed some of the old burned discs after more than a couple of months , i realised some of the discs were no good anymore . and it kept happening for more discs as the time passed .
no more data reading available. all formats were burned in mkv or ts on a 25gb .
i thought first traxdata dics were the problem . but i was the only one to have this problem . i had those discs read on another blu-ray writer and they were not detected either . the data is not accessible anymore after a while and the discs are not recognizable by the drive anymore . when i insert the disc nothing happens . and the disc are not even recognizable by the drive . i had this unit for 10 months or so .
i went ahead and send the unit lg back for repair just in case and did not get any news from lg of what happened . got a new unit 3 weeks later without any comments . but i lost 300 euros in blu-ray discs because of lg . make you think twice . never had that with dvds . and got hundreds of them from over 10 years old.


any comment or similar experience would be appreciated since i am left in the dark to make assumptions on my own .
would love to burn more blu-rays . but i am little burned from this bad experience .

I don't have a BluRay burner, partly because the format isn't old enough for us to have reliable data on media quality. The ONLY media I trust now is Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden. I have never heard of traxdata. If I was going to burn BluRay discs, I would buy Verbatim. Taiyo Yuden either does not make BluRay media or they don't sell it in the USA, so that leaves Verbatim as the only manufacturer I would trust. If I had to guess, I would guess that traxdata isn't a very good quality brand.

i agree with the fact that is a very recent tech . we have here infiniti , mbi and traxdata and verbatim , philips , imitation, and tdk .
right now , some brand like tdk ,philips ,imation are so expensive. you can just forget about it . infiniti has a decent price of 4.5 euros .
verbatim is around 6 euros per single in a pack of 10 . which is slightly more expensive .
infiniti is sold as a single . maybe i should forget discount packs for the time being
cant find anything on traxdata and mbi for feedbacks anywhere .

The obvious thing to do is to try another brand of disc.

The Traxdata brand has been associated with Ritek discs, at least for DVDR media, so perhaps your BDR media is Ritek. As to the quality, who knows? Like jman says, we have little to go on as yet.

I can find reviews of your burner by doing a search, but can't find it on the LG website. It's apparently no longer made, but you'd think there would be something about it in the manufacturer's support section.

[EDIT] I don't have a Blu-Ray burner yet either (just a BD-ROM), but I presume your discs have an M.I.D. (manufacturer I.D.)? ImgBurn should be able to tell you the actual M.I.D. Post it here, maybe someone has had experience with that media and can comment.

Yeah Traxdata is a cheap dvdr so i doubt their bluray writables would be any better quality.

verbatim is around 6 euros per single in a pack of 10 . which is slightly more expensive .

Not more expensive after you add in the cost of all the crap media & time you will waste.

Just out of curiosity, Do those burned disks look any different now ? I've noticed that with DVD disks that no longer play after time you can actually see color differences in the disk.

tony. i do not know as i sent them back to where i bought them for an exchange. since it could not happen. traxdata refused them . i should get them back soon and let you know . i am curious too.
still not sure if it is the drive or the media . of course the vendor is telling me that i am the only one who got problems with that. he took them out of his catalog for a while and put them back recently .
i am still skeptical . and you are right i will not buy of brands .
anybody knows the infiniti brand . this one does not sale as a bulk but only as a single case . for 4.5 euros , give or take . so that make me want to try. but not sure either .
