    Hi
I need to play an mkv file (6.5GB) and subtitle file on my blu ray player via an external hdd.I have to make sure the mkv file is no larger than 4GB, so my first question is how best to split the mkv file in 2?My second question is how to then get the separate single subtitle file to associate with the 2 new mkv files?Do I have to split the subtitle file also, and if so, how to do this in the right place so that they match the video of the 2 mkv files exactly?

Could I access the 6.5GB file and subtitle file from a usb stick instead?

Please use the general forum if you don't know where to post. This is not any blu-ray backuping. MKV files are not blu-ray files.

Split using mkvtoolnix. Split the subtitle file using for example subtitle workshop. I guess you have to check the sync manually against the mkv cutting.
