HDMI cable for Xbox360

Hi,

What is the xbox360 hdmi cable like compared to other brands like belkin etc.? i need to get a hdmi cable because my xbox didnt come with one.

The price/quality really doesn't matter (at least not at the cable lengths we are talking about).

Of course the build quality matters, you dont want it to fall apart in your hand, but whether the cable itself is made of high quality oxygen free copper or poor quality recycled rubbish, for a 2-3 foot cable it doesn't make any difference at all.

One good comparison I read is if someone bought a better quality USB cable to make their printer print a better picture, you just wouldn't do that...

Both the genuine and belkin cables are exceptional in quality.

As to the price, I have both as they have proven reliable and well designed.

Monster ... Have to develop a hole in the head before touching over priced junk which screams ripoff.

Can't say I directly compared them to the XBOX cable, or any other, really. If you check out the bluejeans page there's some info about their stuff and HDMI in general. He really knows what he's doing... 8)

You should be able to find a decent six to 10 foot HDMI cable for well under the equivalent of US$10. With HDMI cable it's pretty much an all-or-nothing issue. If you get a picture at all it's as good as it's going to get.

Was unable to determine any difference whatsoever between a $14.95 Walmart cable and up to $49.95 specialty cable, using Xbox360 and HD Sat, to 42" plasma and 32" tube. Get the cheapest one you can find.

Video quality won't differ too much between the cheapo cables and something pricier (at least not to where one would notice), but the audio is another matter.

I got some $2 cables a while back, and the audio was terrible - lots of static, uneven volume, etc. Upgraded to a $14 cable (which was visibly thicker) with better shielding, and the difference was immediate and very noticeable.

So, $10-20 is a good range for a nice cable. Avoid Monster - horribly overpriced.

Well, OK, didn't know there was such a thing as a $2.00 HDMI cable. Must look like a lamp cord.

I always run SPDIF to amp for sound, have yet to use HDMI for audio. TV outs convert to regular stereo.

I've bought several 6 and 10 foot HDMI cables on sale at Fry's for US$2 to US$3. They all work fine. I usually run 1080p60 RGB.

well i am willing to spend between $35 - $50 Australian (~US$20-30)... it will probably be either a belkin one or the genuine xbox one... so i guess my main question is whether xbox have overpriced theirs simply because it has xbox on it? it also comes with a seperate audio out for the xbox...

This is not analog signal transmision over 50ft long distances to be searching for gold wires in a vacuum cables
It's digital. The 1s and 0s move exactly the same over the cheapest recycled crappiest wires and over the most expensive TopNotchBrand wires.
The only difference between cheapest and most expensive may be in its "physical" quality (i.e. after you plug in and out cheapest cable many times, it may break somewhere, usually at the connector). But if you are going to just plug it once and have it set "forever" like most people do, any el-cheapo cable will do the same job as good as any most expensive ones.

Not sure what length you need, but the bluejeans and monoprice cables will certainly be as good as either belkin or the xbox cable...possibly for less $, depending on length and of course shipping to you. Of course, just going down to your local store and picking one up would be a whole lot simpler. I think you'd be fine getting any of them, as others have previously said. 8)

You know, very often the price of the product (or actually most of the time nowadays, because everything is imported from 3rd world countries) doesn't indicate it's quality at all.

Some countries are under "developing countries" umbrella in most of western countries (i.e. Malaysia) while some are not or no longer fall under such import tax exempts or whatever duty breaks.
Hence for example the more expensive (costing more to manufacture) and better quality product made in i.e. Malaysia may be actually cheaper at its retail price exactly because of such tax breaks/ lower import costs, while similar but much worse quality product made of cheaper materials in i.e. Taiwan may being sold at higher retail price - because goods imported from Taiwan don't get such breaks...
