As a newbie to this software, I'm clearly missing something in simply converting an .avi file to DVD format, so I can put it on a disk.

I'm using the "HOW TO MAKE A DVD..." guide.

I choose AVI for input and DVD ffmeg for output. I don't change the in/out filenames at the top.

After the encoding is done, the guide tells me that there's supposed to be a "movie.DVD" folder with AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS files inside. NOT on my computer there isn't. The only file created has my original file name plus a ".ts" extension. I can't do anything with that without getting some sort of invalid format message from Toast or Popcorn or the built-in Apple software.

    Where am I going wrong?

Have you checked the "Author as" box in the Options tab and get the drop down menu to be as DVD(VIDEO_TS)?

If you want to create a DVD, do not use the MPEG-TS preset, but use one of the DVD presets instead.
