I have a Philips DVD HTS3548W and want to make it region free.
How do I do this.

That's a nasty side effect.

Incorrect configuration on the DVD player audio output settings.
Defective DVD player.
Defective sound playback device (TV or receiver).
I've never heard a region hack breaking sound, so it's unlikely that happened.
