I've had a Protron PD-DVD100 for about a year now, and very much love it (especially the vast output support on the back of the unit), with the exception of one thing.

The manual lists that one of the formats it plays DVD+R disks, however, when I use my computer to record / burn DVD files to a DVD-R disk, it WILL NOT play in the unit. When the disk is inserted, it reads, ERROR DISC.

Then when I burn the files to a DVD+R disk, it works flawlessly when attempting to play.

The manual does state that it will only record to DVD+ media, but does not state anything about not being able to playback DVD- media.

Does anyone have one of these units and have similar issues?

Or am I doing something wrong?

    TIA

I'm not familiar with this model, but the only consistently reliable media sold in the USA is Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden (you'll have to order those online). I can't say whether the issue is bad media or this model simply doesn't like DVD-R media. Most modern players/recorders support DVD+/-R equally well. I guess to find out you'll have to try a Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R disc and see if you get the same results.
