I'm trying to rip some HD DVD's to stream on our server. Everything I try the video comes out fuzzy/grainy. It's a real balancing act trying to keep the bit rate down so the loading time is under control yet keeping a high quality video. BTW these are fully licenced DVD's. We have the rights to use them online.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Please give us as MUCH information as possible.
What tool and settings have you tried? Bitrate, resolution/frame size, etc.
What resolution and bitrate are you aiming at?
And I'm moving you to our blu-ray/hd-dvd to mp4 section. -
I'm using ImTooDVD Ripper Plat.
I've tried every BR, Res, and FS.
We're trying to keep the video quality crisp yet keep the file size down so it doesn't keep buffering on the users end.
Just hoping some one can help me out with some specs to try.hi -
hmm no one eh? I find people are very tight lipped about these things.lol

What type of file does it rip to? VC-1 in .m2ts or raw VC-1 ? -
Let me break it down what we do. We get DVD's from the movie studios. We take the DVD's and encode them to wmv and flash for streaming on the web. What I'm looking for is a way to rip the dvd's to mpg4 in a way that keeps as much quality as possible but the bit rate down for easy download. These DVD's say they're encoded in HD and we want to capture as much as the HD as possible so it looks good in the viewers browser.
We also looking for the best software to do such a thing.hi -
If by DVD you really mean HD-DVD, no one uses them anymore, and no software is being actively developed for that purpose. This is likely why nobody is answering.
You might search for some of the older guides on HD-DVD ripping. -
What was wrong with your old WMV/flash method? Too low-quality?
I find this scenario pretty odd... -
Seems like all the software I find doesn't let you set the specs you want. It all has pre sets for certain encodes. WMV 640x480 etc.

DVDs in HD? Can you PLEASE tell us what kind of files you have? It's difficult to help without knowing your SOURCE FORMAT.
And try avoid imtoo crap converters. There are better free mp4 h264 converters like RipBot264, Handbrake or for wmv use WMVMuxer, Windows Media Encoder.
