Flicker on DVD Menu

I have just burnt a DVD using Adobe Encore 1.5.1 and it plays well except for an annoying flickering on the menu itself. The chapter links just sit shimmering. Very annoying. Can this be fixed?

Without seeing them it is hard to say what is going on, however if I were to guess I would suggest it is interlace flicker. This is usually cause by having elements (images, graphics, fonts) that have very thin horizontal lines or very sharp high contrast edges running horizontally.

If this is the issue you can resolve it by using larger fonts, avoiding serif fonts or fonts with thin horizontal sections, and by applying a slight vertical blur to image elements.
