    Hi

I use ffmpegx 0.0.9y and I have a problem: I'm not able to convert a video flv to avi or other format, because when I drop the file in the "from box " on "source format", in the "video" box appears "0x0004" while in audio box appears normal parameteres.

    what can I do?

    Thanks
    Giovanni

Your video codec is not directly supported by ffmpegX.
But if you install the Perian QuickTime Component and activate 'Decode with QuickTime' in ffmpegX, then ffmpegX may be able to convert your file.

Please verify if QuickTime Player will play your FLV file. If it doesn't, then 'Decode with QT' won't work for this file.

QuickTime Player says the .flv file has TrueMotion VP6 video and Mp3 audio. As ffmpegX is unable to read the video codec, it doesn't set the output settings right (resolution, aspect, framerate). So that has to be done manually.

When I tried to convert that file (XviD ffmpeg, decode w/QT), the video handled fine (foo.ff.avi.e.avi), but ffmpegX failed to continue after that with an unsupported video codec message and a weird mapping error. I suppose I could add the audio from the source and mux that manually with the converted video.

I also tried another app for this .flv file: Avidemux (which also comes as a Mac port). A good and complete conversion, but 5 times slower!

Not sure if you resolved your problem, seeing this post is pretty old. I experienced the same problem today. I managed to solve it by exporting it straight out of Quicktime (assuming you have Quicktime Pro and Perian installed). That did the trick. No need to use FFmpegX if you have those two programs at your disposal (QT pro licensing is $30).
