    Hi,
I use a program called BSR to record my friends webcam. I'm currently using the ffdshow xvid encoder, theres loads of settings I dont really understand in there. So what settings are best to capture every frame in and not lose any quality?
    Thanks

Start by pressing the Load Defaults button. Then Single Pass, target quantizer, Q=3 or 4, Quality Preset = Realtime, Disable B-VOPs. But fast compression, small file size, and good quality don't all go together.

  4. It is generally not a good idea to record directly into a hi-compression, CPU-intensive codec like Xvid, MPG-1 or 2 or uncompressed or Huggy or Lagarith AVI most likely better.

Thanks for the suggestions. In the recorder app BSR4 what Video Speed options should I select? Its currently on "Capture 7 frames per 1 second" - I can change either of the numbers.

It depends on how smooth you want your video. Movies run at 24 fps. The software probably doesn't have that. Try 30.
