    Please excuse the elementary nature of this question. I know absolutely nothing about video editing and very little about computers. I would simply like to edit certain plays off of a football game video that is on a DVD and reproduce those selected plays on to another DVD. I would really appreciate any direction. (software etc.) The simplier the better, I need no audio, no titles, just video. Thanks in advance.

    My app. of choice for working with DVD files is MPEG Video Wizard DVD. It cost $49, but a 30 day free trial is available. I like it for its user configurable NLE style interface which makes it very good for the type of project you want to do. It will allow you to import the VOB files from your DVD. Do all of your cuts and edits.Then re-author it to a new Video_TS folder that is ready to burn. Another app. similar to above is VideoReDo. Both are very capable programs.
    If you are looking for free apps., there are several that can get you where you want to go. Since I use MVW for almost all of these types of projects, I have only dabbled with the alternatives. I have had good luck using AviDemux to edit the VOBs and then stream-copy them to an MPEG-PS file. Then, I used dvdauthor with DVDAuthorgui to re-author the MPEG file to a Video_TS folder. Finally, use ImgBurn to burn the new DVD. It's not as convenient as the all-in-one programs, but you can't argue with the price. One other note. It is usually a good idea to rip the files from your original DVD to your hard drive as opposed to just copying them. If your orig. DVD has any copy protection, this will be a necessity. This will ensure everything is taken from the DVD properly and that you will have error free copies. DVD Decrypter or DVDFab (both free) work well.

    Get video off DVD, and onto computer, doing this:
    http://www.digitalfaq.com/guides/video/edit-dvd-recorder.htm

    Once video on computer, edit with Womble MPEG Video Wizard doing this;
    http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/showthread.php/editing-womble-mpeg-381.html

    The Womble MPEG Video Wizard "DVD" version can also make a new DVD.
    Or author (make DVD from MPEG files) using any number of authoring programs.
